Cupping Therapy

Cupping is an ancient method of alleviating local congestion and stagnation of blood flow. Special Cups are are positioned on the skin to create suction. Laura’s Touch uses the ‘Fire Cupping method where a flame is used to heat the cups, the flame is put out before the cups are positioned on the skin creating a local suction vacuum that causes the skin to rise and redden, opening up the blood vessels to mobilise blood flow in order to promote healing.

The cups are kept in place for approx 3 mins. Cupping can help to enhance circulation by encouraging blood flow, provide pain relief, alleviate inflammation and extract toxins from the body. Cupping may ease symptoms such as:

  • Arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Back pain, neck pain, knee pain and shoulder pain.
  • Breathing problems, such as asthma.
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome.
  • Frozen Shoulder
  • Gastrointestinal disorders, such as irritable bowel disease (IBD).
  • Headaches and migraines.
  • High blood pressure (hypertension). What should I expect after cupping?

Please note that the suction force from cupping breaks open tiny blood vessels under the skin. You will have round bruise-like marks that fade in a week or two. Find out more about Cupping by clicking here
